END POINT ASSESSMENT- COMING SOON

The introduction of independent end-point assessment (EPA) is one of the biggest changes in the Government’s Apprenticeship Reforms.
End-point assessment is a new way of assuring quality in the apprenticeship system. It replaces the existing model of continuous assessment resulting in qualifications.

Once an apprentice has completed their apprenticeship, they will be ‘signed off’ by their employer as ready for end-point assessment of their knowledge and practical capabilities.

In most cases, the assessment will be graded and must show the apprentice is fully competent and productive in the occupation.
The registered assessment organisation and the assessor must be independent of, and separate from, the training provided by the provider and employer.

Success Stories

  • Stacey Mortimer

    Stacey Mortimer
Stacey came to Mercia College after a spell in the customer service sector. Since joining the company she has worked directly under the managing director where she learned basic office procedures and administration. She is now working within the Learning & Development Team where she books in students for their computer-based exams, prepares the laptops for these tests, records the results and orders the relevant certificates. This is a very important part of the Apprenticeship process, particularly for the student concerned, because after a year of on-the-job training, their test results and the resulting certificates are the reward for the student’s endeavours. Stacey will also work in other departments of Mercia College, giving her a good grounding in office and business procedures. She has taken to this like a duck to water and is already proving to be an asset to Mercia College where she is getting the opportunity to put her skills and intelligence to good use.

  • Laura Peach

Laura peach @ Friar Gate Alterations

Laura Peach is a fine example of the Apprenticeship Scheme in operation.

Laura started as a Foundation Learner with Mercia College In January 2012, attending four days a week and learning about employability, workskills and personal and social development. By her own admission, Laura was low on confidence and unsure of where she would fit in the world of work.

On completion of her Foundation Learning course, Laura had more idea of what she wanted to do so Mercia College found her a place as an apprentice at Friargate Alterations, a thriving small business run by Julie Manning.

Julie is pleased with Laura’s progress and says that she would recommend that any small business should look into the benefits of taking on an apprentice. This arrangement clearly suits both parties as Laura is happy to have found her niche in the workplace which in turn has given her a huge boost in confidence which is there for all to see.

  • Tyler Finnerty

My Apprenticeship thoughts by Tyler Finnerty – 18 years old…

I am enjoying my apprenticeship as it has helped me gain more confidence when I do my daily tasks. You also gain valuable knowledge that can help you carry out daily tasks to a better standard .I progressed from foundation learning course Mercia College helped make me more employable and suitable for a apprenticeship this helped me along my journey giving me helpful and valuable tips which I can now apply to my current role as an apprentice at Mercia college.
